Jerzy Mierzejewski created paintings that were intended to affect both emotions and the eye. As the son of a painter, he decided to continue the family tradition and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. For him, the painting process was a fight for peace against chaos and disorder of thoughts, and the work is an infinite entity, leaving room for additions and interpretations. Mierzejewski began a series of deserted landscapes in subdued, subdued colors in the early 1970s. The compositions from this series are a paean to the painting technique, the careful treatment of structure, surface, as well as the balance in the relationship between forms and color, which is perfectly reflected in the presented "Road in the valley". In his works, Mierzejewski used light under the influence of the mood he felt at a given moment, and what he managed to capture exceptionally well was the silence speaking through his canvases.
