Marian Czapla has developed his own style of modern easel painting based on vivid, textural color and sensual figuration. His work is described as a personal figural morality play - a variant of painting formally comparable to the art of the abstract expressionist Willem De Kooning and the authenticity of George Rouault. As Stefan Gierowski noted: 'Capla, being firmly rooted in Polish reality - when talking about it, he talks about universal issues and is able to convey it in such a special way that we find in his art the truth of a painterly, often dramatic collision of man and his space. As an aside, I would like to emphasize that the abstract concept of space plays as important a role in Marian Czapla's paintings as the figure. Between space and man there is a painting problem of two symbols or signs in which one could find a desire to express the unity of nature.
