Weimin Sun

Weimin Sun (Born 1946) is active/lives in China.  Weimin Sun is known for Painting.

Sun Weimin was born in Heilongjiang in 1946. He was good at painting rural themes. He went to the middle school attached to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1963. In 1969, he went to a remote village in Hebei, following the popular "Going to the Rural Area" at that time. The frankness of farmers in the North, and the life in the rural areas left great impression on him. The rural life and the innocence of the people there are in consistency with his attitude toward life. That is why he could get famous in the 1980s, when the rural theme was very popular, and stuck to the theme after that. After he went back to city in 1972, he created Countryman, Under the Tree and other works with rural themes. He attended the Postgraduate Class of the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. His graduate design won the Bronze Prize on the 6th National Fine Art Exhibition, which was also a representative work during that time.
