Raymond Tsham

Raymond Tsham (Born 1963) is active/lives in Congo, Africa.  Raymond Tsham is known for Pencil drawings, watercolor paintings of contemporary African art.

Raymond Tsham Mageng was born in Lubunz, Eastern Kasai, and lives and works in Kinshasa. He uses ballpoint pens to create his artworks.  On drawing paper he uses simple black BIC to draw masks and statuettes from the Congo and elsewhere.

Having exclusively used black ballpoint pens for over 20 years, Tsham has recently introduced color into his works or rather he has re-introduced it, as he utilized mixed techniques right at the start of his career. Watercolours and crayons now tint the background or highlight figures.

Tsham is by nature discrete and meticulous. He doesn't often leave his studio but nevertheless is open to others and the world at large.  The news inspires his work and he always has his radio tuned to an international station.
