Bartolomeo Pedon

Bartolomeo Pedon (1665 - 1732) was active/lived in Italy.  Bartolomeo Pedon is known for Dramatic, tumultuous landscape and marine painting, barouque.

Born in Venice on 15 October 1665 in the parish of San Bartolomeo, Pedon is with Antonio Marini and Marco Ricci as one of the best protagonists of the Venetian Baroque landscape between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

His style elaborates what arrived in the lagoons by Johann Anton Eismann, Hans de Jode, Ernest Daret, Cornelio Dusman, Jan and Andries Both and Pieter Mulier known as the Cavalier Tempesta, all Nordic landscape painters working in Venice or in its mainland.

A man of culture, in addition to painting Pedon was a fine literate although he led a rather unruly life and devoted to vice, perhaps the reason for the fact that the Fraglia dei Pittori saw him registered for only one year, in 1716.

After centuries of oblivion his work was revalued during the twentieth century and thanks to an initial group of monogrammed paintings.
