Pierre Molinier

Pierre Molinier (1900 - 1976) was active/lived in France.  Pierre Molinier is known for Painting and sculpture.

Erotic paintings and photomontages are emblematic of Molinier's work. In them, the artist stages the bodies of nude women and his own transvestite body. Sulfurous and enigmatic, his work inspired body-art artists in the early 1970s and continues to attract the attention of critics and collectors today. Pierre Molinier began experimenting with painting as a craftsman. Working alongside his father, and then independently from 1919 to 1960, he was a house painter. As a self-taught artist, Molinier began to practice drawing and painting. From 1960 onwards, he devoted himself to his art, creating a series of emblematic canvases, including Le Réveil de l'Ange (1960), Suzinella (1960) and La Flèche Amoureuse (1960-62), which we will be presenting at our sale.
