Jesus Helguera

Jesus Helguera (1910 - 1971) was active/lived in Mexico.  Jesus Helguera is known for Painting.

Jesús Helguera is known as one of the most representative painters of calendrical art in Mexico, whose work was born of romanticism, fantasy, eroticism and national folklore. 

At the age of 7 he emigrated with his family to Spain, where he received his initial artistic training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid and later at the San Fernando Academy.  In this stage he learned the taste for history painting by studying the works of the Prado Museum, which opened the way for illustration.  At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, Helguera returned to Mexico in 1938, where he toured much of the national territory knowing the customs and traditions of Mexico.
