Alice Harold Murphy

Alice Harold Murphy (1896 - 1966) was active/lived in New York, Massachusetts.  Alice Murphy is known for Genre-figure, printmaker.

A chronicler of the Great Depression, she excelled in several mediums. She was an acknowledged printmaker and was featured in Albert Reese's book, "Prize Winning Prints of the 20th Century." For many years she sat on the graphic art juries on the Annual Exhibitions of the National Association of Woman Artists. She was the first woman ever to teach at the National Academy of Design. Her work is in numerous permanent collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Tiffany Foundation and The Library of Congress.
