Marvin Lemay Midgett was born in 1884 in Rodanthe, North Carolina. He served at the Kill Devil Hills Coast Guard Station where he met Manie Haywood. Together, they carved some of the finest canvas over wire decoys to ever come from North Carolina. Marvin Midgett's drake widgeon decoy is considered one of the best, with crisp and original paint. This exact decoy is published on page 315 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen. Marvin Midgett passed away in 1971
