Nael Hanna

Nael Hanna (Born 1959) is active/lives in United Kingdom, Iran, Islamic Republic of.  Nael Hanna is known for Painting.

Born in in Neneveh, Northern Iraq, of Iraqi, Greek and Syrian Christian Orthodox heritage, Nael Hanna showed an interest in art from an early age.  At 19 he enrolled in college to study Petroleum Studies, but was later drafted into the Army to serve in the Iraq - Iran War.  He continued to paint during his military service and was awarded a placement to study art in Britain from the Ministry of Education in Baghdad.

In 1983 he began a language and art foundation course at Southampton and was then accepted for a degree in Fine Art at Duncan Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee.  In 1987 he was granted a place at Hospitalfield in Arbroath, and it was here that he established his passion for the east coast of Scotland, with its dramatic scenery, and its ever-changing light and weather conditions.
