The autodidact Giorgio Avanti was born in 1946 in Switzerland. Avanti, who was married to the artist Marianne Eigenheer (1945-2018), found his way to painting in the mid-1980s. His works, which are preferably held in acrylic, are determined by an intense color palette that manifests itself spontaneously and unrestrained on the canvas. In terms of motifs, Giorgio Avanti moves in a wide variety of genres, from figurative to abstract compositions to alpine views. He is inspired by various iconic artists of the 20th century, including Paul Klee, Joan Miró and Ferdinand Hodler. In addition to painting, Avanti, who now lives in Walchwil am Zugersee, also devotes himself to writing stories.
