Vittorio Avondo

Vittorio Avondo (1836 - 1910) was active/lived in Italy.  Vittorio Avondo is known for Landscape painting, museum director.

The landscapes of this artist are rendered with extreme elegance and delicate vibrations of light and color, and often matched with those of Charles-Francois Daubigny. After attending the Gymnasium, Vittorio wanted to devote himself to studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Pisa.

Later he specialized~ in the landscape with the painter Alexandre Calame in Geneva, where he met Antonio Fontanesi. His most signicant experience took place in the studio of Corot where he trained as a landscape painter of merit, characterized by a refined and subtle sensibility, steeped in lyricism staff. His painter's activity is divided into three parts: first 'calamista', then 'naturalist' and later 'individualistic.'

He is considered, along with Delleani, one of the renovators of Piedmont 800 painting.

In 1891 he was hired as director of the Museo Civico di Torino, a post he held until his death.
