Vincentiu Grigorescu

Vincentiu Grigorescu (1923 - 2012) was active/lived in Hungary, Italy.  Vincentiu Grigorescu is known for Still life painting, woodcuts, black and white abstraction.

The activity of Vincentiu Grigorescu began as an artist as 1938 with the creation of some pastels depicting still lifes. In 1944 he enrolled at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Bucharest.

In those years he volunteered for the Resistance against Nazism  as a Paratrooper, and he was wounded and decorated.

His studies focused on the works of Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Duchamp's modern art, while his production ranged from still lifes to some abstract works, but did not receive the attention that critics paid to his caricatures. of advertising graphics, awarded some awards.

In 1954 he won the prize for the Manifesto of the World Youth Festival in Moscow and in 1957 he was also awarded at the Milan Triennial. From the great still lifes and the experience in advertising graphics, he gradually arrives at a kind of concrete abstraction that involves surface, support and color.
