Peter Freudenthal is a Swedish artist known for his geometric abstraction and constructivism style of painting. He studied art, art history, archeology, and ethnography at Stockholm University and worked as an archaeologist in northern Sudan in 1962. His art is mainly characterized by geometric compositions with symbolic meanings and sharp optical effects. In the 1960s, he met his mentor Olle Baertling, whose concrete art and open forms inspired him to create a whole new kind of geometric paintings with squares and rectangles with three-dimensional perspectives. Freudenthal prefers to call his art style geometric abstraction. Some of his motifs have their origins in the Jewish tradition. He made his debut in Stockholm in 1966 and has exhibited in the USA and in several countries in Europe. His works have been considered "musical".
