Max Volkhart

Max Volkhart (1848 - 1935) was active/lived in Germany.  Max Volkhart is known for Painting.

A son of the well-known painter Wilhem Volkhart (1815-1876), Max Volkhart also studied at the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Dusseldorf.  He was a student of Andreas Müller (1811-1890) and Heinrich Lauenstein (1835-1910).  Besides, he took private lessons from Eduard von Gebhardt (1838-1925), who inspired him to follow the Dusseldorf school of painting.

Max Volkhart spent several years in Belgium and the Netherlands, where he studied old and contemporary masters who influenced him regarding the choice of subjects and the technical use of color.  Volkhart was focused on the depiction of portraits, costumes and genre scenes in gallant interiors, which are much in demand on the international art market.
