Marian Mokwa

Marian Mokwa (1889 - 1987) was active/lived in Poland.  Marian Mokwa is known for Maritime painting.

Marian Mokwa was born in Malary in 1889. In 1905, he began studying at the School of Fine Arts in Munich with Stuck and Ritter. Later he continued his studies with M. Libermann in Berlin and made many trips to Europe. In the years 1911-1915 Mokwa stayed in Istanbul, hence he went on trips to Jerusalem, Persia, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Mongolia, was the Caucasus and Tibet. The fruit of these journeys were dozens of paintings, hundreds of watercolors and sketches. In 1918 he settled in Sopot. In 1920 Marian Mokwa took part in four major exhibitions of marine (Königsberg, Berlin, Munich, Stockholm). His first exhibition was at the Pomeranian Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1921. Mokwa painted watercolors and oil paintings. The content was often Kaszuba, Pomerania and sea shores. Mokwa's talent was backed by honest work and thorough expertise brought fame to his name abroad: in England, Sweden, and Germany.
