A contemporary California Plein Air Artist, Gary Lang sets the boundaries for a New Generation of California Plein Air Artists. He is a resident of Carlsbad and can be found painting in many of San Diego's north county locations.

While basically self-taught, Gary's use of linear brush strokes and contrasting colors combine with the saturated light found in California landscapes. The result is a bold and unique style that commands an art aficionado's attention.

Gary paints "wet-on-wet" creating subtle color nuances as colors mix upon the canvas. By adding dry scumbled overlays, Gary achieves "California" light like few artists of today. It's no wonder he has been asked to auction alongside the old California masters at such prestigious auction houses as Christie's and Butterfield & Butterfield & John Morans. His artwork can be found in some of the finest California Plein Air collections throughout the United States.
