Christian Dotremont (1922 - 1979) was active/lived in Belgium.  Christian Dotremont is known for Cobra painting.

Christian Dotremont was a Belgian artist born in 1922. He was raised in a family of literature enthusiasts and was influenced by Surrealism. In 1947, he founded the Revolutionary Surrealist Movement and later co-founded the CoBrA group in 1948. Dotremont collaborated with other artists to create word paintings and developed logograms in the 1960s, earning him the title of "painter of writing". He believed that words were a public treasure and essential for communication among people. Dotremont passed away in 1979.
