Alberto Rafols Casamada

Alberto Rafols Casamada (1923 - 2009) was active/lived in Spain.  Alberto Casamada is known for Abstract, post-expressionist painting and drawing, art teaching.

After a brief figurative period, Alberto Rafols Casamada in the 1950s gave way to a more schematic and structured conception of reality, with a clearly abstractionist bias, which he would cultivate throughout the rest of his life.

During the 90s, until he reached the end of his career, his production was interpreted as a study on his own work. His compositions, stable and calm, show a structural purity taken to the extreme in which symmetry, order and balance configure the use of space dominated by geometry and the complementarity of colors.

Painter, educator, writer and graphic artist, Ràfols Casamada began in the world of drawing and painting with his father, Albert Ràfols Cullerés. In 1942 he began studies in architecture, although he soon abandoned them to dedicate himself to the plastic arts.
