William Malcolm Cutts

William Malcolm Cutts (1857 - 1943) was active/lived in Ontario / Canada, England.  William Cutts is known for Portraits, landscapes and seascape painting.

William Malcolm Cutts was a painter who was born of British parents in Allahabad, India.  After his father was killed in the Sepoy Revolt (1857-1858), he and his mother moved to England.  In 1870 he emigrated to Stratford, Ontario, Canada with his mother and stepfather and lived there until 1880.

He subsequently lived in Toronto, St. Ives, Cornwall, England (1909-12), back to Toronto and finally in 1915 to Port Perry, Ontario, where he lived the rest of his life.

His mediums were oils and watercolours.  His subjects, portraits, landscapes, and seascapes. His style was realism and naturalistic.
 
He was self taught; however, he did visit England for a short period to study painting.  He learned by copying the Old Masters.  He also traveled and painted in Jamaica and the eastern U.S.A.
 
He was a member of the Ontario Society of Artists (1890) and an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy (1907).  He exhibited with the R   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1962 characters.]  Artist bio
