Born in Welsh, Louisiana, Emile Samuel Guidroz graduated from Central High School, Fort Worth. He studied under Dura Cockrell at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, under Kathryne and Olin Travis at the Dallas Art Institute, and under Boardman Robinson at the Art Students League of New York.

Guidroz graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago where he received honorable mention for his work. Guidroz was a resident of Dallas for twenty-three years, then moved back to Fort Worth, where he continues to reside. His wife was Nina Peeples an other Early Texas Artist.
