Born March 24, 1893, in Sweden, where he received early art training by private tutors and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, he came to the United States in 1906 and later became a naturalized citizen. His formal academic art training at the Chicago Art Institute was from 1911 to 1918 where he also became an instructor; a pupil of both Wellington J. Reynolds and H. M.
