American abstract painter Sarah Morris was born in 1967. She received her B.A. degree from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, furthering her studies at Jesus College, Cambridge University, London, England; and in the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program, in New York City. She lives in London and New York City.

Morris is essentially a painter of abstract, brightly-decorative, geometric paintings executed in gloss house paint. Perspective convergence of the lines in squares and rectangles is often used to create an abstract illusion of tiled room interiors or geometric building facades. Her paintings have also explored the lettering of newspaper headlines and even the human head, turning them into bright blocks of color. Recent paintings in her "Pool" series, reflect similar aesthetic considerations, and apparently relate to swimming pools in the Miami, Florida area.
