Peter Eduard Stroely

Peter Eduard Stroely (1768 - 1826) was active/lived in Germany.  Peter Stroely is known for Portrait, miniature painting.

After years of traveling through Europe, Stroely arrived in England at the beginning of the 19th century. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1803, 1804, 1806, 1807, 1819, 1821, 1823, 1825 and 1826. In view of the format of the present miniature, it is quite possible that it was exhibited, perhaps in 1806, when a deceased Mrs. Duff and a Miss Manners are listed among Stroely's models. A similar Stroely miniature of almost identical size in landscape format, depicting a Mrs Sarah Thornhill née Sober, is illustrated in Leo R. Schidlof: The Miniature in Europe, Graz 1964, IV, plate 559 no. 1138.   ...  [Displaying 611 of 918 characters.]  Artist bio
