Jack Pierson, a conceptual artist, was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1960. He received a BFA degree from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston in 1984. He lives and works in New York, southern California and Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Pierson's work includes photographic transparencies exhibited in light boxes, written words and large letters and calligraphic symbols displayed on gallery walls. "Ocean + 1st (Pinkscape)," 1995, 72" x 71.7", color photograph with mixed media on canvas, is a photographic view of a southern California neighborhood with palm trees and the sun's glare brightly whiting out the center of the picture.

In "You Got What You Deserved," 1991, 14" x 11", these words are scrawled in graphite in block letters on light blue paper, with "Right off Hollywood Blvd" scrawled in script below it. "Teen Star," 60" x 98", spells just that in very large letters of varied size and color on a wall.
