Painter, lithographer, cartoonist, and writer, Jack Markow, was born in London, England and studied at Art Students League, NY. He had thousands of cartoons published in the U.S. and abroad in such leading magazines as The New Yorker, Saturday Review, New York Sunday Times Magazine, and the Saturday Evening Post. He taught drawing and cartooning at the School of Visual Arts for eight years and published four how-to-cartoon books. His monthly column on cartooning appeared in Writer's Digest for over a decade. He also wrote regularly for the quarterly, Cartoonist Profiles, and his biographies of cartoonists appeared in Encyclopedia Americana.

Exhibited at the Whitney, the Corcoran, the Pennsylvania Academy, American Group, New York, and colleges, museums, and galleries throughout the country.
