Al (Alfred) Jackson (1940 - 2001) was active/lived in Illinois. Al Alfred Jackson is known for Still life painting, commerclial art.
Al Alfred Jackson, was an African-American artist, who was born in the 1940’s. He studied art at the American Academy in Chicago, Illinois. For a time he was employed as a commercial artist and then painted mostly still life paintings.
He was fascinated with water drops and South Western pottery. He would sit at his easel for hours at a time, painting and repainting a drop of moisture or the stem of a vegetable or fruit.
Alfred Jackson won many first place gold medals for his realistic still life paintings. He participated in the Annual Gold Coast as well as the 57th Street Art Fairs. He battled a debilitating disease of diabetes for a large portion of his life and was a recluse who did not want to share the details of his life.
It was common for him to stop painting for long stretches of time and then to resume.
Alfred Jackson died in 2001.
