Léon Philippet, born June 14, 1843 in Liège and died in 1906 in Brussels, is a Belgian painter.

At the end of his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège (1856-1867), Léon Philippet made a study trip to Paris (1866-1867) then stayed in Italy from 1868 to 1887. At the start of the Lambert Darchis foundation (1868-1872), Léon Philippet stayed in Rome for almost twenty years, where he mainly painted popular scenes of Roman life.

After his return to Belgium (1887), his work will mainly consist of portraits and landscapes of the Belgian coast.

He exhibited at the Cercle des Beaux-Arts de Liège from 1887 to 1898.

James Ensor always professed the keenest admiration for the work of Léon Philippet by hailing him as the master of painting of the time.

Leon Philppet died in Brussels in 1906.
