Painter, graphic artist from a merchant family. Studied in MUZHV (1852-1855, 1857-1865) in E. Ya Vasiliev, S. Zaryanko, E. Sorokina. In 1864, for the painting Reading the letters in the bench was awarded a small silver medal in 1865 for his film Kontraktova - a large silver medal.

In 1866, he continued his studies in MUZHVZ on the Rights of the auditor. In the same year received the title of IAH class artist of the 3rd degree. In 1870, appealed to the Board of IAH with a petition to award him the title of academician of the painting The Seamstress and sandal-walkers, singing a song about Lazarus, but received only the title of class artist 1-st degree. Since 1893 - Member of IAH.
