Eduard Kaiser was born in 1820 in Graz. He was the son of Joseph Franz Kaiser. He studied at the Academy in Vienna with Josef Danhauser and joined the Academic Legion in 1848. An Austrian painter and lithographer, Eduard portrayed numerous personalities of the March Revolution. He stayed in Rome from 1852-53, then returned to Vienna. He was an esteemed portrait lithographer of the imperial family and of Clara and Robert Schumann, among others. He worked in Rome from 1867-86, and here he gained fame as a watercolor copyist based on old masterpieces. Reproductions of the watercolors were sold in England.Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia
