Josef Svoboda

Josef Svoboda (Born 1901) was active/lived in Czech Republic.  Josef Svoboda is known for Painting, marine, seascape, portraits of people in national costumes.

Josef Svoboda came from Mariánské, and then went to study in Prague. There he studied for three years with the painter Edvard Cihák, from which he took a passion for exotic motifs, and then with Alessandro de Piano. Svoboda traveled across Europe and the Mediterranean. The colorful paintings from these travels are the most famous of his works (marinas, seascapes, portraits of people in national costumes, and fishing scenes). Although Josef Svoboda died relatively young, he created during his lifetime many records about the Czech and European landscape.
