Fred Wissenbach

Fred Wissenbach (Born 1887) was active/lived in Oregon.  Fred Wissenbach is known for Native American portraits, landscape paintings and western scenes.

The following biographical information has been provided by Edward Livingston, a former member of Fred Wissenbach's church. 

He was an Episcopal minister who moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon from the Pendleton, Oregon parish in 1942 and served as the minister through 1949.  He promptly painted the walls of the Saint Paul's sanctuary with religious symbols and figures which are still in place today.  He was a tall man with a large stature, very heavy grey eyebrows, and a gruff German accent, all of which made for a fierce physical presence that belied his friendly nature.  In addition to his church duties, Fred taught art at the local high school in the 48-49 school year. 

His wife's name was Billy and they had two daughters.  One daughter married George Massey, a well known Klamath Falls resident in the late 40's.  I think Fred died while on a tour of Israel with his wife about 1952.
