Emilio Ocon Y Rivas

Emilio Ocon Y Rivas (1848 - 1904) was active/lived in Spain.  Emilio Ocon Y Rivas is known for Coastal scenes with boats, seascape and landscape painting.

Although he specialised in seascapes, he also worked on landscapes. A composition on the same theme is entitled Landscape, in which the painter shows the grandeur of Nature and which can be found in the Unicaja Collection. 

A painter and restorer of stained glass, his speciality was seascapes. He became the leader of a whole generation of Malaga painters devoted to seascapes, including Guillermo Gómez Gil and Ricardo Verdugo Landi. 

He began his training at the Malaga School of Fine Arts and later continued at the San Fernando School in Madrid, where he was a pupil of Carlos de Haes. The Malaga Provincial Council awarded him a scholarship to study in The Hague, where he completed his training with the Belgian painter Cleiss.
