Arthur Villeneuve

Arthur Villeneuve (1910 - 1990) was active/lived in Quebec / Canada.  Arthur Villeneuve is known for Painting.

Born in Chicoutimi in 1910.

Hairdresser of formation, he is a self-taught painter and became a famous worldwide naïve painter.

He dedicated himself to painting from the beginning of the 1950's and transformed his house in a living Museum in 1959. He exhibited in numerous art galleries in his career and produced a movie in 1965: Villeneuve: painter-hairdresser.

He won the first prize of the Great Québec Creators in 1971. He exhibited at the Fine Arts Museum of Montréal, Québec Museum, and at the Vancouver Art Gallery. He published "The Québec Chronicles" and won the title of "The Order of Canada" in 1972, for his career. He painted until he deceased in 1990.

Collections: His pieces of art are part of many public and private collections worldwide.
