Wladyslaw Skoczylas

Wladyslaw Skoczylas (1883 - 1934) was active/lived in Poland.  Wladyslaw Skoczylas is known for Painting, woodcut.

Wladyslaw Skoczylas was born in 1883 in Wieliczka. He was a painter, graphic artist, sculptor, teacher and art critic. From 1901 he studied sculpture at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, then sculpture and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow with Axentowicz and Wyczólkowski (1904-1906), sculpture with Bourdell in Paris (1910) and graphics in Leipzig (1913). From 1908, Wladyslaw Skoczylas lived in Zakopane for several years, where he taught drawing at the School of Wood Industry, and he was a co-founder of the Podhale Art Society and the "Kilim" weaving workshop. From 1918 he lived permanently in Warsaw. He taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic and led the Department of Artistic Graphics at the School, and later at the Academy of Fine Arts. Wladyslaw Skoczylas exhibited a lot, including with a group of Formists.
