Thomas Sidney Moran

Thomas Sidney Moran (1863 - 1930) was active/lived in Pennsylvania.  Thomas Moran is known for Landscape, seascape and portrait painting.

Thomas Sidney Moran (1863-1930) was a son of the Philadelphia painter and photographer John Moran (1831-1902) and Sarah Malvina (or Melvina) Smith (1831-1893). He was a nephew of the painters Thomas Moran (1837-1926), who was famous for landscapes of the American West, and Edward Moran (1829-1901), one of the country's most respected marine painters.
 
Born in Philadelphia, Thomas Sidney Moran specialized in landscapes and seascapes like his famous uncles. By the end of the 19th century he had moved from Philadelphia to New York City.

Moran often painted in a colorful, more modern style than that used by older members of this artistic family. He also painted portraits of Edward Moran and his second wife Annette (his uncle and aunt) that were engraved and reproduced in Thomas Sutro’s book, Thirteen Chapters of American History, Represented by the Edward Moran Series of Thirteen Historical Marine Paintings.
