Severin Nilson was a Swedish artist born in Asige, Halland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and later traveled to Paris to study with Léon Bonnat. He was active as a landscape and history painter in Stockholm and Halland, and his paintings often depicted traditional environments and people. He is known for his natural portraits of women and children's everyday lives. One of his famous paintings is of children in a sailing dinghy on Ätran's calm waters with Saint Laurentii church tower in the background
