Ruggero Focardi

Ruggero Focardi (1864 - 1934) was active/lived in Italy.  Ruggero Focardi is known for Painting, etching, landscape.

Ruggero Focardi was born in Firenze in 1864. A Florentine painter belonging to a family of sculptors, Ruggero Focardi made his debut at the age of seventeen at the Royal Academy in London with two engravings of a realist subject imbued with sentimentality, one of which was noticed by Telemaco Signorini. A friendship was born between the two and an exchange of relationships with the Macchiaiolo group that influenced the first production of Focardi characterized by the study from life of nature rendered with brilliant brushstrokes spread out in stain. Participation, at the beginning of the twentieth century, in the Alinari competition to illustrate the Divine Comedy, brought Focardi closer to the symbolist divisionism of Previati. The beginning of his collaboration with Plinio Nomellini dates back to that period with whom Focardi will share numerous artistic initiatives while maintaining a figurative language faithful to landscape painting and the intimate lyric subject.   ...  [Displaying 987 of 1502 characters.]  Artist bio
