Paul G Babcock

Paul G. Babcock (1905 - 1976) was active/lived in California, Oklahoma.  Paul Babcock is known for Still life and desert scene painting, sculpture, mosaic murals.

Paul G. Babcock, painter, sculptor, muralist, mosaic artist was born in Oklahoma City, OK on July 15, 1905. He was best known for mosaic murals, portraits, still-life and desert scenes.

When he was a youngster, the family moved to Fort Worth Texas, which later gave him the chance to attend the highly regarded Texas Christian University.

By 1930, he had settled in Los Angeles where he married the mural painter Alberta von Ottenfeld. He continued his art training at the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles, eventually taking his place on the Board of Governors for this Institute.

Because of his skills in mosaic and fresco painting, during the Depression he was employed on the Federal Art Project. 

He worked with his wife on many mural projects and - in his later years - painted portraits of Hollywood celebrities and public figures, and kept teaching painting and sculpture.

Paul Babcock died in Glendora, California on February 2, 1976.
