Montgomery Earl Melbourne

Montgomery Earl Melbourne (1893 - 1970) was active/lived in California, Missouri.  Montgomery Melbourne is known for Commercial art, illustration, advertising.

The following information was provided by the artist's grandson:

My grandfather was wholly responsible for some of the most famous advertising art icons of the 20th century.  Just to mention a few: Chilly Whilly for Kool cigarettes; The Morton Salt Ad, and tag line, " When it Rains it Pours"; give you car a kick in the gas, with Gulf No-Knocks; The Wrigley's Spearmint Boy.  He invented the first Pop-up advertisement in Jack and Jill Magazine and Uniroyal Tiger Paws Tire Ad.  He was also an accomplished anatomical artist, inventor, expatriate of Tenafly, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois, where he owned and operated an art school.
