Mateo Balasch Mateu

Mateo Balasch Mateu (1870 - 1936) was active/lived in Spain.  Mateo Balasch Mateu is known for Realism, oil painting.

Mateo Balasch was a Spanish artist who studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona and in Italy with Antonio Mancini. He debuted in 1892 at the Sala Parés and received a grant from the Barcelona City Council to further his studies in Rome and Paris. 

He also worked in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Milan, Havana, and New York before returning to Barcelona in 1913. Balasch participated in several exhibitions in Spain and abroad, winning prizes and receiving an honorable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1897. 

His works can be found in the Museums of Contemporary Art in Barcelona and Madrid, as well as in several other European and American museums.
