Karl Holtz

Karl Holtz (1899 - 1978) was active/lived in Germany.  Karl Holtz is known for Caricatures.

Karl Holtz was a German artist who studied at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin from 1914-1919. He created numerous caricatures for various magazines such as "Ulk", "Humorous Leaves", "Die Rote Fahne", "Der Wahre Jacob" and "Eulenspiegel". In our drawing, he portrays Max Winkler, who was the chief editor of the magazine "Der Syndikalist" from 1919 to 1921. This drawing is probably the only document that shows Max Winkler's appearance since no photograph of him has been found to this day.
