Karl Friedrich Schulz

Karl Friedrich Schulz (1796 - 1866) was active/lived in Germany.  Karl Schulz is known for Landscape, marine, military, and hunting scene painting.

Born as the son of a master baker in Berlin, Carl Friedrich Schulz studied at the art academies in Berlin and Düsseldorf.  In 1814 and 1815 he took part in the wars against Napoleon.  Then he traveled to the Rhineland, France, England and the Netherlands, where he painted sea studies and copied paintings by Jan van Eyck by order of the Gemäldegalerie Berlin.

In 1841 Schulz was appointed professor at the Academy in Berlin.  In 1847 he worked for the Russian Czar in St. Petersburg.  Schulz painted landscapes, marine and military scenes and especially hunting scenes, which earned him the name of 'Jagdschulz (Hunting Schulz)'. (fea)
