June M Benson

June M. Benson (1930 - 2013) was active/lived in New Jersey, Florida.  June Benson is known for Watercolor floral and underwater scene painting.

June M. Benson was born in East Orange in 1930.  She developed a great interest in art at an early age.  Her focus being watercolor.  She exhibited around the state of New Jersey and all over Florida. 

She was a member of the New Jersey  Watercolor Society since 1977, a member of the Florida Watercolor Society, and both a member and served on the board of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA). She won the High Winds Medal from the American Watercolor Society and the Miriam Halpern Award from NAWA.

June was known for her intuitive approach that used a combination of naturalistic and inventive imagery featuring flowers, stones and underwater motifs that had a mystical quality.  June and her family enjoyed summers in Belmar and Asbury Park NJ. and painted watercolors of the sea and its surroundings.
