Juan Antonio Frias Y Escalante

Juan Antonio Frias Y Escalante (1630 - 1669) was active/lived in Spain.  Juan Frias Y Escalante is known for Baroque style paintings, religious themes.

uan Antonio de Frías y Escalante was a Spanish artist born in Cordoba in 1633. He received his early training in Antonio del Castillo's studio and later studied under Francisco Rizi in Madrid. Escalante was greatly influenced by Venetian painters such as Tintoretto and Veronese, as well as Flemish prints and the elegant models of Alonso Cano. He was an accomplished draughtsman and colorist, known for his imaginative and dynamic body of work. Escalante died of tuberculosis in 1669 at the age of thirty-six, leaving behind a promising career. His earliest known work is an Episode from the Life of St. Gerard, and he received numerous commissions from churches and religious institutions in Madrid. He is known for his Baroque style paintings with religious themes, and his light, delicate brushwork and theatrical compositions
