John Paul Marsh

John Paul Marsh (1886 - 1939) was active/lived in Indiana.  John Marsh is known for Brown County Indiana landscape, stone sculpture.

J.P. Marsh (known by family as James Harvey Marsh), studied in the Herron Art School at the same time Wayman Adams, Simon P. Baus and Carl C. Graf were also attending the art school.  "Later, Mr. Marsh studied in the Art Students League in New York City.  Added to his study of painting, there has also been a study of sculpture.  Among his teachers in sculpture were Arturo Colancia of Forlence, Italy, Lachine of New Orleans and Schwarz of Indianapolis.

Mr. Marsh was employed in the art department of the Indiana Limestone Company of Bloomington.  In 1927, Mr. Marsh was represented with stone carving in the Hoosier Salon in Chicago.  During his two years residence in Bloomington, 300 of his paintings have been purchased by Bloomington people.  Among the exhibitions in which Mr. Marsh has been represented are Marshall Field picture galleries, New Orleans Art League, Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans, Steele Memorial galleries in Bloom   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1440 characters.]  Artist bio
