Jesus Mayagoitia

Jesus Mayagoitia (Born 1948) was active/lived in Mexico.  Jesus Mayagoitia is known for Sculpture.

Jesus Mayagoitia was born in 1948 in Mexico City. He studied the Bachelor and Master of Visual Arts in the ENAP and has done work as a teacher in the same institution. The work of Jesus Mayagoitia is undoubtedly marked by geometry; a purist of the line, his strokes escape from the plane to materialize in the void, giving color to the absence, providing form and figure to the space. Throughout his career Mayagoitia developed different stages, the first is known as "Modular Sculpture" that includes his production from 1977 to 2000. In these pieces, the secret of his technique is in welding, which allows the coexistence of different modules, sometimes of different sizes, in a geometric balance of exact proportions. Jesus Mayagoitia has presented his work in more than 100 collective exhibitions and 30 individual exhibitions. He has received important acknowledgments in Mexico and abroad, was the first Mexican to win The Henry Moore Grand Prize for his sculpture "Vertical Space" in 19ESPINOSA FERNÁNDEZ, Jorge.
