Jan Zakrzewski

Jan Zakrzewski (Born 1946) is active/lives in Poland, United States.  Jan Zakrzewski is known for Abstract landscape and still-life painting, drawings, symbolism.

Wlodzimierz Jan Zakrzewski comes from an artistic family: his father, Wlodzimierz Zakrzewski, was a famous painter-Veducist, his mother, Elzbieta Owsepian-Zakrzewska, also worked in this profession.

The painter studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and in 1970 he graduated from the studio of Professor Krystyna Lada-Studnicka. The 1970s was the moment when the artist's individual style was developed. Although it has evolved over time, many of its elements have survived throughout the years of his creative activity.

The artist's early works are characterized by greatly simplified representations. His landscapes and still lifes were almost abstract. “They were built on many levels, of dynamic systems consisting of flat, colorful forms and sharp, categorical line divisions, often diagonal. In his paintings, the flat-laid color was adjacent to semi-transparent parts, painted parts or fragments covered with geometric patterns.
