Harry C MacCartney

Harry C. MacCartney (Born 1870) was active/lived in California.  Harry MacCartney is known for Painting.

“1867 – 1957. Henry C. ("Harry") Macartney was born in Armagh, Ireland on September 15, 1867. He appears to have immigrated to northern California about 1890. While a resident of San Francisco, he made painting forays into Marin County, Monterey, and the northern coast. His art training is unknown; however, his works reflect the tonal qualities of those by his contemporaries Piazzoni and Martinez. His rare works are invariably of the highest quality and qualify him as one of early California's finest landscape painters. In his old age Macartney moved to his son Jack's home in Los Angeles. He died at the Masonic Home in Decoto, CA on May 21, 1957. Exhibited: Gump's (San Francisco), 1900; San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1903-17; Oakland Art Gallery, 1928; Santa Cruz Art League, 1929.
