Hans Schleich

Hans Schleich (1834 - 1912) was active/lived in Germany.  Hans Schleich is known for Landscape and marine painting.

The German landscape and marine painter Carl Johannes Schleich was born in 1834 in Stettin.  As the descendant of a wealthy family, he was artistically fostered.  He soon had to decide between a career as a painter or as an opera singer.  He chose the latter.

After a successful stage career and tours throughout Europe, he fully turned to the painting in the 1880s.  He studied under Hermann Eschke (1823-1900) in Berlin, and later under the Norwegian painter Hans Frederick Gude (1825-1903).  In 1912 Schleich died in Berlin.
